• What is the FinderNote™ ?
FinderNote is a simple text editor, but unlikely other documents, its documents can be read on Finder without opening any application.
• Why FinderNote™ ?
I'm sure that sometimes you want to write down a memo for special file or folder on your hard disk. And sometimes you want also a simple to-do list on your desktop. Then, which application do you use for it?
And if you want to read them, do you double-click it and wait for launch of the application and for the file being opened?
Here is a easiest way, use FinderNote. Once a document is created by FinderNote, it can be read directly on Finder, without any other application.
• System Requirements
System 7.1 or later.
Clipping Extension.
Finder 7.1.4 or later.
('Clipping Extension' is one of Apple's 'Drag Manager' files.)
• About Note files
You can choose two types of note file.
One is the styled-text, that you can use various fonts, sizes, and styles in a note, the other is the mono-styled-text, that you can use only one font, one size, and one style.
In fact, in a mono-styled-text note, you can't choose any font, size, and style. FinderNote uses only Finder font automatically (in U.S. system currently the Geneva font, size 9, and plain style). It is the reason that on Finder, your mono-styled-text notes is opened by only Finder font. (You can change the Finder font in the 'Views' control panel.)
You can choose it on the Preferences window.
You can alter this temporarily by holding option key while choosing 'New' menu.
You can select 'AutoSave' option on each note file. If you select this option, the changes will be saved automatically when you close it.
You can insert text till 32Kbytes for a note.
• Modifying note files
Unfortunately, you can't modify the note on Finder. If you want to modify a note file, you should launch the FinderNote by dragging it on the FinderNote or double-clicking the FinderNote.
Please remember that double-clicking the note file can't launch the FonderNote. Doing it can only open the note on Finder.
I promise this will be easier in the next version.
• Use on Finder
You can read note files on Finder (without FinderNote) by double-clicking it. You can copy whole contents of the note file by 'Copy' menu of the Finder. Unfortunately, you can't copy partial text.
On system 7.5 or earlier version with the Drag Manager extensions, you can drag the note file on any applications' windows that support the 'Drag Manager'.
(You need 'Macintosh Drag and Drop', 'Dragging Enabler', and 'Clipping Extension' for this drag-and-drop feature. You need only the 'Clipping Extension' if the version of your system is 7.5)
• Print
FinderNote has a very simple print function.
Of course you can print both mono-styled text and multi-styled text.
In case of mono-styled text, you can choose a font and size for print which can be different with Finder font and size.
The page margins are always minimum values, so print area will be maximum. But you can change it by holding option key while choosing 'Print' menu.
• International Support
FinderNote fully supports the multy byte character script systems (except bidirectional systems).

This version is almost same with the version 1.2 which was uploaded on the Macintosh Application Forum in the CompuServe. But I modified some minor problems and recompiled using the Metrowerks Code Warrior 9. And this version is the first one that is uploaded on WWW.
